NCAA Basketball Conference Tournament Betting Odds

–The road to ‘March Madness’ continues with a full slate of conference tournament action.

–32 conferences will hold tournaments over the next three weeks.

–The full field for the NCAA Basketball Tournament will be announced on March 12.

With the college basketball regular season nearing an end it’s time to look ahead to the conference tournament slate. There will be 32 conference tournaments starting on February 27 and continuing through March 12. That day is also significant as it is ‘Selection Sunday’ when the selection committee reveals which teams have made the 68 team NCAA tournament field.

And that’s a perfect segue way to the conference tournaments. Not only do they provide great basketball action and excellent betting opportunities they afford the winner an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. For teams that don’t have the credentials for an ‘at large bid’ this is their only realistic chance to make the field of 68. Even teams that do have a good chance of receiving an ‘at large’ bid take these tournaments seriously more often than not. For years, there was a ‘conspiracy theory’ that teams ‘on the bubble’ would get preferential treatment in conference tournaments against teams that already have an ‘at large’ bid locked up. There’s definitely a strong financial upside for a conference to get an additional team in the 68 team field but there’s little to validate that the conspiracy theory has any basis in fact.
