NHL Hockey Best Bets for November 10, 2015
After a one game card on Monday we’ve got twelve games on deck for Tuesday hockey. Here are our best bets:
ST. LOUIS BLUES AT NEW JERSEY DEVILS:
The St. Louis Blues are off one of their best efforts of the season as they beat Nashville 4-0 on Saturday night. They’ve been playing great on special teams and that’s a very important component of winning hockey games. It’s even more impressive given the recent slew of injuries that the Blues have suffered. The most recent is Steve Ott, though his upper body injury is minor and he should be back by the weekend.
Jake Allen will start for St. Louis facing Corey Schnieder for New Jersey. St. Louis has been in great form lately winning 8 of 11. But the reality is that the Devils have been just as good, winning 8 of their last 10 games. The New Jersey turnaround to this point is somewhat unexpected–the missed the playoffs last season and their 46 points at home was the lowest ever in a non-lockout season. They’re just 4-3-0 at home this year but can’t argue with their recent form. The price on this game doesn’t reflect how well the Devils have been playing.
BET NEW JERSEY DEVILS +130 OVER ST. LOUIS BLUES
COLORADO AVALANCHE AT PHILADELPHIA FLYERS:
Two teams desperate for a win. The Avs have lost 9 of their last 12 games while the Flyers have lost 6 of 7 and 7 of 11. Colorado will turn the goaltending duties over to Reto Berra tonight while the Flyers will respond with Michael Neuvirth. This is the first of a franchise record seven game road trip for the Avalanche–a trip that the local media in Denver is calling ‘do or die’. Philadelphia is coming off a win–their only one of a recent five game road trip–having beat Winnipeg 3-0. In an otherwise even matchup we see more urgency for Colorado and will take them at the underdog price.
BET COLORADO AVALANCHE +110 OVER PHILADELPHIA FLYERS
VANCOUVER CANUCKS AT COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS:
Columbus might not be tearing up the league since new head coach John Tortorella has taken over but they have won 4 of 7. Looking at the underlying numbers that run is actually very impressive–6 of the 7 games were on the road and included games at Washington, New Jersey and a three game West Coast trip with stops in Los Angeles, San Jose and Anaheim. This game is important to the Blue Jackets for several reasons, not the least of which being they haven’t won on home ice all season going 0-5-0. Another component of this game–Tortorella gets to face the team that fired him from his last NHL coaching gig prior to taking over the Blue Jackets. We’re thinking he holds a grudge.
