‘Survivor: Heroes v. Healers v. Hustlers’ Season 35 Episode 3 Betting Odds

–This is the 35th season for CBS’s reality show.

–’Survivor’ was one of the early pioneers of the reality TV genre.

–’Survivor: Heroes v. Healers v. Hustlers’ Episode 3 airs on Wednesday, October 11 at 8:00 PM Eastern.

Simone Nguyen was eliminated on Episode 2 of ‘Survivor: Heroes v. Healers v. Hustlers’ and that was somewhat surprising to me. She was my #7 choice to be eliminated in episode 2 (+1750) but more problematically she was the top choice for the ‘next contestant to be pixelated due to nudity’. I’ve reworked those odds entirely–I made the mistake of basing them on which contestants *I* would most like to see nude and that’s a bad mistake. It’s important to keep in mind that a large part of the ‘Survivor’ viewership is comprised of women and gay men (if you don’t believe me take a look at this Reddit thread on the Season 35 wardrobes) and it’s likely that any pixelated skin exposure will be ‘fan service‘ for them.

I didn’t think Simone Nguyen had a good shot at winning but I didn’t expect her to be gone this soon. Of course my odds were compiled before she ‘cut a promo’ on the outdoors during Episode 3. The first ‘tell’ was her excitement over the ‘aqua dump’ which I’ll let the good people at EW.com explain:

Ah, the aqua dump. That old standby method of human waste disposal for Survivor contestants (and, perhaps, reporters — I ain’t saying I have, and I ain’t saying I haven’t). It’s not exactly something one looks forward to — just ask Darnell — especially having to make sure the ejected matter does not get caught in a tide and follow you around relentlessly while the theme from Jaws plays ominously in your head. Yes, aqua dumps can be scary. But I have never in my life seen someone as excited as Simone to take part in this Survivor ritual. After cheering for herself (always awkward, by the way) for completing her mission, Simone informed us that “the fact that I was reliving myself in the water was the biggest milestone.… I feel like a superhero!”

It went downhill from there for Simone. Simply put, she didn’t want to be there saying at one point in Episode 3 “I hate the outside” and complaining about the lack of air conditioning. It’s not that I don’t sympathize with her concerns and, frankly, I agree with her completely. The important distinction here is that I’m not a contestant on a TV show called ‘Survivor’. Her elimination wasn’t personal–her Yawa Tribe teammates theorized that a contestant that was all but certain to perform poorly in physical challenges was a liability. They callously displayed little interest in what was an obvious ability to look good naked, but like I said before they don’t produce these shows for me. That notwithstanding, it’s hard to argue with their rationale in giving Simone the heave-ho.
